Wiregrass Georgia Technical College has announced that it has earned the 2026–2027 Military Friendly School designation, recognizing the college’s strong commitment to supporting veterans, active-duty service members, and their families.
Institutions earning the Military Friendly School designation were evaluated using both public data sources and responses from a proprietary survey. More than 3,200 schools participated in the 2026–2027 Military Friendly survey cycle, with 878 earning the designation.
Methodology, criteria, and weightings were determined by Military Friendly, in consultation with its Advisory Council, a group of independent leaders in the military community. Final ratings were based on an institution’s ability to meet and exceed benchmarks in areas such as student recruitment, retention, academic progress, graduation rates, career placement, and support services specifically designed for military-connected students.
Wiregrass Georgia Technical College remains committed to providing accessible, high-quality education and career pathways for those who have served. The college offers flexible learning options, workforce-driven programs, and dedicated support services to help military students successfully transition into civilian careers and achieve long-term success.
“It is an honor to have our programs recognized as #6 in the nation for services we provide to our veterans and #9 in the nation for assisting military spouses. The main goal of Wiregrass Military and Veterans office is to reduce post-service related stressors by linking our veterans and their families to much needed community resources. Throughout the year we host several military spouse hiring events, student veterans meetings, and various programs that celebrate service members/veterans. I am blessed with a strong team that shares a passion to assist Veterans during their journey. Our office houses a Disabled American Veteran (DAV) representative to assist with claims processing, VA counseling, VA homebuying representative, video capabilities for Veterans meeting with a judge for benefit approvals; these services are open to all veterans regardless of student status,” says Tabora Temple, USAF, Director of Military and Veterans Services Wiregrass.
Serving a large population of veterans and military families across South Georgia, Wiregrass provides programs aligned with regional workforce needs in fields such as healthcare, logistics, advanced manufacturing, and technology—ensuring military-connected students gain the skills needed for in-demand careers in the region.
“We are honored to be recognized as a Military Friendly School,” said President DeAnnia Clements. “At Wiregrass, we are deeply committed to serving those who have served our country. This designation reflects our ongoing efforts to create meaningful opportunities, remove barriers, and support the academic and career success of our military students and their families.”
“Earning the Military Friendly designation is more than a badge of honor; it is a reflection of an institution’s deep-rooted values and strategic commitment to those who served. These schools don’t just open doors for veterans and military spouses, they build sustainable pathways for academic success and long-term impact. Their support is transformative, proving that investing in military-connected students is both a moral imperative and a standard for educational excellence,” says Kayla Lopez, Vice President of Memberships, Military Friendly.
