Mrs. Brenda Medders Carver, age 76, of Ambrose, Georgia, passed away Saturday morning, May 23, 2026, at her residence surrounded by family and friends.
Brenda was born November 13, 1949, in Augusta, Georgia, to the late Silas Winnie Medders and the late Myrtice Griner Medders. She played basketball in high school and graduated from Coffee County High School as co-valedictorian of her senior class. She went on to marry the love of her life the late T.J. Carver. They shared 56 years of marriage prior to his passing in 2023. Together they raised four beautiful children. She worked in the lunchroom for Coffee County Schools for 18 years. She had a deep love for the Lord and was an active member of Wray Holiness Baptist Church where she taught the Adult Sunday school class for 18 years and served as Church Secretary. She also taught at Holiness Baptist Youth Camp for many years. She enjoyed cooking, baking, sewing, reading, spending time with her children and grandchildren, but most of all being at church serving the Lord and serving others. She was famous to the public for her wedding cookies, but to her grandchildren it was egg sandwiches, grilled cheese, hugs and back scratches.
Along with her husband and parents, Brenda was preceded in death by two brothers, John Winfred Medders and David Medders.
Brenda leaves behind her four children: Buddy and Synda Carver of Douglas, Georgia, Silas and Sherry Carver of Alapaha, Georgia, Gail and Michael Merritt of Douglas, Georgia, Hope and Jody Hall of Ambrose, Georgia; eight grandchildren: Brittany and Jesse Phillips of Douglas, Georgia, Brandi Merritt of Douglas, Georgia, Ethan and KayLa Carver of Willacoochee, Georgia, Whitley and Fred Merritt of Ambrose, Georgia, Brenley and Jarrett Wilson of Willacoochee, Georgia, Brooke and Justin Wilson of Alapaha, Georgia, Anna Hall of Ambrose, Georgia, Evan Hall of Ambrose, Georgia; twelve great grandchildren; a sister, Linda Faye and Joe Hall of Fitzgerald, Georgia; a sister-in-law, Wanda Medders of Douglas, Georgia and brother-in-law: Billy Carver and wife Cathy of Ambrose, Georgia; and two very special friends: Nancy Luke of Griffin, Georgia and Drucilla Hudson of Ocilla, Georgia; along with many nieces, nephews and extended family members.
Brenda’s family will receive friends on Tuesday, May 26, 2026, from 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM in the Ricketson Funeral Home Chapel. The funeral service for Brenda will be held on Wednesday morning, May 27, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Wray Holiness Baptist Church with Rev. Steve Willingham, Bro. Howard Holt, and Bro. Edsel Young and Sister Nancy Luke officiating. Musical selections will be provided by Janice Young and her grandchildren.
Active pallbearers will include Jody Hall, Ethan Carver, Fred Merritt, Jesse Phillips, Jarrett Wilson, Justin Wilson, Michael Merritt, Bentley Phillips, Jase Phillips, Harp Merritt, and Whitton Merritt.
Honorary pallbearers will include Melba Phillips, Patricia Moor, and the ladies of Wray Holiness Baptist Church.
