Troopers from the Georgia State Patrol and deputies from the Atkinson County Sheriff’s Office investigated a fatal incident that took place around 4 p.m. near Axson.
According to an incident report from the Georgia State Patrol, James Hunter Taylor, 20, of Nashville, passed away from injuries sustained when he fell off the rear bumper of a 2004 Chevrolet Suburban. The incident happened near the intersection of Guthrie Heights Road and Honeysuckle Lane. The report says that there were two other individuals standing on the bumper of the Suburban with Taylor. In addition to the driver, two more people were passengers inside the vehicle.
When Taylor fell off the vehicle, he suffered significant injuries. No one else fell off the Suburban. The report says that after interviewing individuals at the scene, there was no evidence to suggest that the driver was operating the vehicle recklessly.
Taylor was transported to Coffee Regional Medical Center where he was pronounced deceased. No charges were filed in the incident.
