Officers from the Douglas Police Department arrested an 18-year-old on armed robbery charges after he allegedly held another man at gunpoint and took his iPhone.
According to a report from the Douglas Police Department, on May 29, 2026, just before 7 p.m., an officer responded to an armed robbery call on West Railroad Street. When he arrived, the complainant stated that he, a female, and Kajuan Lewis, 18, of Douglas, had traveled from Jacksonville, Fla., to Douglas to attend a party the following day. The complainant stated that everything was fine until they reached Douglas. Then Lewis pulled a gun on him and took his iPhone 12.
Afterwards, Lewis held him at gunpoint and drove around to different locations in Douglas. Eventually, the report says, they ended up at Lewis’s grandmother’s home. There, Lewis attempted to fight the complainant. One of Lewis’s cousins stepped between them, the report states, and Lewis left.
When Lewis left, the complainant called 911.
Officers began looking for Lewis and saw him enter his other grandmother’s home on Reed Avenue. He was arrested without incident.
The report says that officers searched the back room of the home and found a handgun and an iPhone.
Lewis was charged with battery and theft by taking. He was booked into the Coffee County Jail.
