An alleged domestic incident that took place at Cherokee Heights Mobile Park just after 4 p.m. on June 10, 2026, led to an arrest on aggravated assault charges.
According to the incident report from the sheriff’s office, officers responded to a domestic call at a home in the park. The complainant stated that her ex wouldn’t leave the house and he had assaulted her, the report says.
In the report, the complainant said that her ex was at her house watching their child while she was at work. Her ex, identified as Jaheim Tyrese Melvin, 23, of Pearson, refused to leave after she got back. The complainant said that Melvin was high and she didn’t want him around their child like that.
As officers conducted their investigation, they learned that the complainant told Melvin to leave and an argument ensued. During the argument, the complainant said that he had grabbed her throat and choked her. The report says that the complainant had marks on her neck consistent with being choked.
Melvin denied choking the complainant and he maintained that he lived there. During the investigation, officers learned that Melvin had been allowed to live there long enough that an eviction notice was required if the complainant wanted him to leave.
The complainant also said that she didn’t want Melvin arrested; she just wanted him to leave. One of the officers explained that due to the nature of the incident, they had to arrest Melvin. He was charged with aggravated assault and booked into the Coffee County Jail. He was released on a $5,500 property bond.
