Wiregrass Georgia Technical College, a licensed provider through the Georgia Driver’s Education Commission, is now accepting registrations for its Driver Education program scheduled for July 13–16, 2026, on the Coffee Campus in Douglas. The comprehensive course provides the classroom and behind-the-wheel training required to satisfy Georgia’s Joshua’s Law requirements for teen drivers.
Students ages 15–17 may be eligible to attend the program at no cost through a scholarship provided by the Georgia Governor’s Office of Highway Safety (GOHS). The scholarship covers the full $500 cost of the Driver Education program for approved applicants. Scholarship applications must be submitted to GOHS by June 30, and scholarship recipients will be announced on July 1.
The deadline to register for the July Driver Education program is July 6.
The four-day classroom session will be held July 13–16 from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. each day. Students are required to attend all four class days to complete the 30 hours of classroom instruction required by the program.
Following the classroom portion, students will be scheduled individually to complete six hours of behind-the-wheel instruction with certified driving instructors. The combination of classroom and driving instruction satisfies all requirements of Joshua’s Law.
To participate, students must have a valid Georgia learner’s permit and some prior experience behind the wheel.
“Learning to drive is an important milestone, and quality driver education helps students develop the skills and confidence they need to be safe on the road,” said Jessica Thornhill, Executive Director of Marketing and Community Outreach at Wiregrass Georgia Technical College. “This program combines classroom instruction with hands-on driving experience to prepare young drivers for real-world driving situations while meeting the requirements of Joshua’s Law.”
The program costs $500. Eligible students who receive a GOHS scholarship may attend at no cost.
