Douglas police officers arrested a 20-year-old Nicholls man on numerous serious charges after he allegedly went into his pregnant ex-girlfriend’s house and assaulted her twice in the same day.
A report from the Douglas Police Department states that on June 15, 2026, at around 3:20 p.m., an officer responded to an Adams Street address. The victim stated that her ex, Jechoniah Armari Renfroe, 20, of Nicholls, had sent her a text message saying he was going to “stomp her stomach in.” The victim was pregnant with Renfroe’s child and the report says that he had been asking her to terminate the pregnancy. The report also says that Renfroe had said that he “wants nothing to do with the child.”
The victim said that Renfroe came into the house and grabbed her by the throat and picked her up off the ground, the report says. There was a witness in the house as well as a child.
Renfroe had left the location by the time officers arrived.
He returned about two and a half hours later and went into a back bedroom where the victim was. The report says that he hit the victim in the face multiple times. He also allegedly pointed a gun at her and threatened to kill her.
The report says that he left the location again and gave the gun, a Taurus 9mm, to a neighbor. Officers recovered the handgun. The report also says that the victim had visible injuries from the alleged assault.
Renfroe was arrested a short time later. He was charged with battery – family violence (first offense), second degree home invasion, simple battery – family violence, terroristic threats and acts, cruelty to children in the third degree (two counts), possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, and pointing a gun at another person. He was booked into the Coffee County Jail and has since been released.
