Granville Read Schofield, Jr., went home to be with his Lord and Savior on July 2, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family. He will be remembered as a devoted husband, father, brother, friend, and respected leader whose kindness, generosity, and quiet strength touched countless lives.
Read is survived by his loving wife, Irene; his sons, Magnus Schofield and Noah Schofield; his daughter-in-law, Elise Schofield; his sisters, Kim Schofield and Kelley White; and his brother, Brent Schofield. He was the beloved son of the late Granville Read Schofield, Sr. and Bonnie Lee Hoffeld Schofield and the stepson to Lynn Parker Schofield. He also leaves behind many extended family members, dear friends, and all who were fortunate enough to know him.
Read dedicated much of his career to Fleetwood Homes, where he served as Production Manager. He was deeply respected by his team for his leadership, integrity, and unwavering work ethic. To those who worked alongside him, he was more than a manager — he was a mentor, a steady presence, and a trusted friend.
A proud graduate of Coffee County High School, Read cherished the lifelong friendships he built there, especially with his fellow Coffee County Trojans football teammates. Those friendships remained a meaningful part of his life through the years.
An avid outdoorsman, Read found great joy in hunting and spending many seasons in the woods with his best friend, John Martin. These were some of the moments he treasured most.
Above all, Read will be remembered for the way he loved others. He had a gift for making people feel welcome, valued, and cared for. His warmth, sense of humor, and generous spirit earned him the love and respect of family, friends, neighbors, and coworkers alike.
Though his passing leaves an immeasurable void, his faith, the memories he created, and the lives he touched will remain a lasting testament to a life well lived. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing and loving him.
