For the third time in his career, Baxley’s Byron Buxton, centerfielder for the Minnesota Twins, is an MLB All-Star. Buxton, who made the All-Star game in 2022 and 2025, has been named the starting centerfielder for the American League. The All-Star game takes place on Tuesday, July 14, in Philadelphia.
Last year, Buxton appeared in the Home Run Derby and played in the All-Star game in Atlanta. He advanced to the semifinals of the Home Run Derby, eventually losing to runner-up Junior Caminero.
This year, Buxton is third in the American League and fifth in the majors with 25 home runs. In 2026, Buxton is hitting .271 with 25 home runs and 45 RBI.
Buxton started the All-Star game in 2022 and played as a reserve last year. He received 1.1 million votes in Phase 1 of the voting then garnered 20 percent of the fan vote in Phase 2 of the voting.
