An animal complaint at a local restaurant during the noon hour led to the arrest of a Denton man on a terroristic threats and acts warrant out of Jeff Davis County.
According to a report from the Douglas Police Department, officers responded to a restaurant at 12:20 p.m. regarding a report of a dog in the parking lot. While an officer was looking for the dog, he saw Cole Grant Clements, 32, of Denton, “grab a child and set the child into a car seat in the rear passenger compartment of the vehicle. [The officer] saw him yell and with both hands grabbed the car seat and shook it.”
The officer spoke with Clements about the incident. The report says that Clements became very apologetic. He gave the officer his name then left the scene. The officer discovered that Clements had an active warrant out of Jeff Davis County. He alerted other officers who began looking for Clements.
Another officer located the vehicle on Pine Street just east of South Peterson Avenue. Clements stated that he knew he had a warrant, according to the report. He was arrested and transported to the Coffee County Jail.
There were two children in the vehicle; Clements is their uncle, the report states. The children’s grandmother was also in the vehicle. The report says that the children showed no signs of injury.
