Thomas “J-Bird” Justin Whitaker, age 40, of Denton, Georgia, Passed away Thursday, July 9, 2026 at Coffee Regional Medical Center. He was born October 13, 1985, to his loving parents, Bridget Mize (Michael) and Thomas Whitaker (Stefanie).
He was deeply passionate about the Georgia bulldogs Football team and never missed a opportunity to cheer them on. He also loved Monday night wrestling, enjoyed countless games of UNO, where his competitive spirit always shined, and found great joy in listening to both gospel and country music. These simple pleasures brought him happiness and reflected the warmth, enthusiasm, and spirit that those who knew him will always remember.
He is survived by his parents, Bridget Mize (Michael) and Thomas Whitaker (Stefanie); brothers: Brent Whitaker(Cassie), Josh Smith, and Daniel Smith; sister, Kaitlin Mize; nieces and nephews: Eli Whitaker, Brantley Whitaker, Emersyn Whitaker, and Charlotte Smith; grandparents: Patricia Bearden (Mimi), Lawanda Mize (Nan), Pat Whitaker (Memaw), Tom and Elaine Mayes (Papa and Nana).
J-Bird was proceeded in death by his grandparents, Rusty McLarty (Papa Rusty), George Mize (Papa George), Harry Whitaker (Papaw), Mary Ann Whitaker (Granny); great grandmother, Catherine Priest (Mamaw), and uncle, Kyle Bearden.
Memorialization will be by cremation. A memorial service will take place at a later date.
Funeral arrangements will be set at a later date. The Whitaker family is being served by the caring staff of Sims Funeral Home.
