A July 8, 2026, traffic stop on Bowens Mill Road SW landed an Ambrose man in jail on illegal drug charges after a K9 alerted on his vehicle.
A sheriff’s office incident report says that on July 8 around 7 p.m., a deputy pulled over a vehicle because it had two broken taillights. The driver was identified as Jesus Carrillo Tinajero, 34, of Ambrose. The report says that in the past, Tinajero had admitted to this officer that he used illegal drugs.
The officer asked Tinajero for consent to search but Tinajero refused. A K9 arrived and did a walk-around of the vehicle. The dog alerted and officers searched the vehicle. They found suspected illegal drugs in an eyeglass case under the center console.
Tinajero was arrested and charged with possession of methamphetamine and possession of a Schedule I Controlled Substance. He was booked into the Coffee County Jail and released on $5,500 property bonds on each charge.
