Mrs. Rose Ann Letchworth Martin, age 79, of Nicholls, Georgia, passed away Monday, July 20, 2026, at St. Vincent – Riverside Hospital following a recent decline in health.
Rose was born January 15, 1947, in Tampa, Florida, to the late Rufus Raymond Letchworth and the late Rosa Lee Hutchinson Letchworth. She was a homemaker and married to the late Richard Casual Martin for 50 years prior to his passing in 2017. Together they raised four wonderful children. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother who loved spending time with her family but especially her great grandchildren. She enjoyed cooking, reading, crocheting, and playing puzzle games. Along with her husband and parents, Rose was preceded in death by a daughter, Rosa Lee DeBose; a brother, Rufus Wendell Letchworth; a sister, Norma Jean L. Roland; and a daughter-in-law, Alisha Lucas Martin.
Rose is survived by three children: James Donald Martin of Nicholls, Georgia, Richard Troy Martin, Valdosta, Georgia, and Leann Elizabeth Griffiths and husband, Charlie, of Alma, Georgia; eleven grandchildren: Christian, Matthew, Samantha (Reed), Taylor, David (Julia), Courtney (Brandon), Alexander (Alisa), Harley (Rosie), Cole, Sara, and Brianna (Josh); ten great grandchildren; two sisters: Ruby Lee Nichols and husband, Keith, of Tampa, Florida, and Linda Faye Keller and husband, Jack, of Wauchula, Florida; along with a number of nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
A graveside funeral service and interment will be held on Thursday morning, July 23, 2026, at 10:00 AM at Roxie Mae Cemetery with Rev. J. A. Anderson officiating.
Active pallbearers will include Cole Busby, Matt Martin, LaQuanda Jackson, Harley Sprinkle, Reed Crosby, and Brandon Porter.
