A 34-year-old was jailed on multiple charges after he arrested for being at a convenience store he had been banned from. During the arrest, he allegedly attempted to hurt himself and was so belligerent toward EMS that they refused to treat him.
An incident report from the police department states that around 12:30 a.m. on July 23, 2026, an officer saw Kendall Basil Taylor Jr., 34, at the Circle K South location. The officer knew that Taylor had been trespassed from that store and wasn’t supposed to be there. Another officer stated that Taylor had been seen at the store earlier drinking beer at the location.
According the report, the officer pulled into the store and spoke to Taylor. He was “highly intoxicated,” the report says. The officer placed him under arrest for criminal trespass. Other officers had arrived and they attempted to escort Taylor to a patrol car.
The report says that Taylor dropped his body to the ground in an attempt to keep officers from putting him in the car. The officers then picked up Taylor and carried him to the car.
At the patrol car, the report says that Taylor started banging his head on the concrete. The officers supported Taylor’s head to keep him from further harming himself, the report says. They were able to get him into the car but he continued resisting then attempted to kick the door off.
EMS responded to treat his injuries but the report says that Taylor was so belligerent to EMS that they refused to treat him. Taylor had injuries on his face and neck, and he complained about his right knee hurting. The officers took Taylor to Coffee Regional Medical Center. After being cleared at CRMC, he was taken to the Coffee County Jail.
Taylor was charged with interference with government property, obstruction, disorderly conduct, and criminal trespass. He was given a $5,500 bond on the interference charge and $250 bonds on each of the others. He has been released.
