The CCA Lady Patriots are 2-0 after defeating the Fullington Academy Lady Trojans 9-3 in Cordele on Friday afternoon.
Fullington jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the first. CCA responded with two in the first and two in the second for a 4-1 lead. Fullington narrowed the advantage to one run with a two-spot in the third. The Lady Patriots padded their lead with a run in the fourth and four in the fifth.
Brilynn Waldron led CCA offensively with a 3-4, two RBI day. She also scored a run. Mattie Lewis, Peighton Harper, and Arabelle Roberts had two hits apiece. Klair Mercer and Lewis drove in two each.
Shanley Meeks and Harper split time in the circle. Meeks started and earned the win with a four-inning outing. She gave up three runs (all earned) on three hits. She struck out six and walked one. Harper threw the final three innings. She didn’t allow anyone on base and struck out two.
The Lady Patriots have two more games in Cordele on Saturday — a 9 a.m. showdown against Westfield and a 1 p.m. tilt against Brookwood. CCA travels to Pinehurst for a rematch with Fullington on Monday. They play at home versus Tiftarea on Tuesday at 6:30 p.m.
