Mrs. Abbie Gail Mills, age 75, of Douglas, Georgia, passed away peacefully in the early morning hours of Sunday, August 9, 2026, at Coffee Regional Medical Center following a recent illness.
Abbie was born October 1, 1950, in Repton, Alabama. She was a hairdresser by trade. She was married to the late James Preston Mills for 47 years prior to his passing, and together they raised three beautiful children. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother and more than anything she loved time spent with her grandbabies. She attended First Assembly of God in Douglas, Georgia and loved working with church. She also enjoyed traveling, antiquing, and fishing. Along with her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Carolyn B. Munholland, and a brother, Delbert Blankenship.
Abbie leaves behind her three children: April M. Haney of Douglas, Georgia, Jamie Mills and wife, Christy, of Douglas, Georgia, and Lucy M. Alligood and husband, Brandon, of Cochran, Georgia; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; three brothers: Darrell Blankenship and wife, Debra, of Panama City, Florida, Dewey Blankenship of Panama City, Florida, and Drexel Wood and wife, Susie, of Seven Lake, North Carolina; a sister, Martha Ann W. Gilmore of Panama City, Florida; along with a number of nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.
A funeral service will be held to honor Abbie on Wednesday afternoon, August 12, 2026, at 2:00 PM, at First Assembly of God in Douglas, Georgia, with Rev. Marshall Adcock officiating. She will lie in state beginning at 1:00 PM, for one hour prior to the funeral service. Interment will be held on Thursday afternoon, August 13, 2026, at 3:00 PM, at Evergreen Memorial Gardens in Panama City, Florida.
