The CCA Lady Patriots improved to 7-2 on the season with a 6-0 win over the Crisp Academy Wildcats Tuesday in Douglas.
Two familiar names topped the stat sheet. Emma Gourley once again paced CCA offensively while freshman pitcher Shanley Meeks threw a one-hit complete game shutout.
CCA jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first inning when Mattie Lewis doubled, scoring Brilynn Waldron for the first run of the game. Klair Mercer followed and reached on an error, which allowed Lewis to score from second. From there, the Lady Patriots scored a run in the third, two in the fourth, and one in the sixth. Half of CCA’s runs were unearned; the Wildcats committed five errors in the game.
Gourley was 2-3 with two RBI and two runs scored. She and Lewis had the only extra base hits for the Lady Patriots, both of which were doubles. Waldron also scored twice.
Meeks went the distance, giving up one hit. She struck out a season-high 13 to just one walk.
CCA hits the road today to face the Mount de Sales Academy Cavaliers in Macon. Then they have a week off before hosting Pinewood on August 27 at 6:30 p.m. in Douglas.
