Mrs. Susan Annette Sears, age 67, of Nicholls, Georgia, passed away peacefully on Wednesday afternoon, August 26, 2026, at Kindred Hospital in Green Cove Springs, Florida, following a recent illness.
Susan was born October 3, 1958, in Douglas, Georgia, to the late John William Odum and the late Lula Mae Story Odum. She was a homemaker, and a loving mother who found her greatest joy in time spent with her children and grandchildren, and watching “Little House On the Prairie”. She also enjoyed shopping, thrifting, and playing BINGO. Along with her parents, Susan was preceded in death by her husband, Michael Kenneth Sears; two daughters, Amy Lou Sears and Raven Garcia; a son, William Bedgood; three sisters: Shirley Faye Odum, Jean Marilyn Hutchinson, and Patricia Ann McKinnon; along with one brother, Ray Carroll Odum.
Susan leaves behind five children: Sandy Mckinnon Tovar and husband, Ramiro, of Tifton, Georgia, Michelle Nobles Spivey and husband, Franky, of Douglas, Georgia, Holly Music and husband, Phillip, of Nicholls, Georgia, Joshua Nobles and wife, Ashely, of Douglas, Georgia, Adam Sears and wife, Jewel, of Douglas, Georgia; son-in-law, Rolando Garcia of Douglas, Georgia; twenty grandchildren: Zachery Whitley and wife, Cara, Jonothon Whitley and wife, Skyler, Jaylin Wiley and husband, Tucker, Mashayla Music, Jesi Hendricks and husband, Will, Trinton Music, Joshua Music, Jagger Music, Jacob Nobles and wife, Kayle, Brayden Garcia, Bentley Garcia, Greison Spivey, Sierra Sears, Makayla Sears, Michael Sears, Levi Sears, Skyler Forrest and husband, Brock, and CJ Woesner; 13 great grandchildren; one sister, Wanda Sue Harrell and husband, Junior, of Douglas, Georgia; along with a number of nieces, nephews and extended family members. Susan is also survived by several special people who were not family by blood, but were family by love: JT, DJ, and Julie Jones.
A funeral service will be held to honor Susan on Saturday morning, August 29, 2026, at 11:00 AM in the Ricketson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. George Bennett officiating. Interment will follow in Satilla Memorial Gardens. Her family will receive friends on Friday evening, August 28, 2026, from 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM in the Ricketson Funeral Home Chapel.
Active pallbearers will include Brayden Garcia, Kristofer McKinnon, John Victor Hutchinson, CJ Woesner, Zachery Whitley, and Joshua Nobles.
