A 27-year-old Douglas man was arrested and charged with prowling and aggravated stalking for allegedly harassing a female victim with whom the suspect said he was in love.
According to a sheriff’s office report, on August 28, 2026, a deputy responded to a local mobile home park regarding a possible stalking. When the officer arrived, he spoke to the female victim who said that Dakota Monroe Arnold, 27, of Douglas, had been “stalking her and sending crazy love texts expressing his love for her.” She said that she had left her home for two weeks because of the alleged stalking, the report says.
The victim had returned home and stated that she had heard noise outside after she had gotten out of the shower. She was leaving her home and saw Arnold’s car parked at a neighbor’s house. When Arnold saw that he had been spotted, the report says that he “sped away.”
The victim stated that she had worked with Arnold but had never been in a relationship with him. The problems started when they worked together, the report says.
Arnold had “been an ongoing problem,” according to the report. The victim stated that he had sent her messages from fake numbers, fake Facebook accounts, and other text apps, the report says.
Several deputies eventually responded to the call and one of them saw Arnold’s car speeding trying to leave the area.” The deputies were able to stop Arnold who initially stated that he was in the area working on his car. He had just so happened to park near the victim’s house as he was repairing his car. Then, the report says, he changed his story saying that he was picking up someone to help him fix his vehicle.
Eventually, the report says, Arnold stated he was there “looking after her to make her feel safe.”
Arnold was arrested and charged with loitering or prowling, stalking, and possession of tools for the commission of a crime. He was transported to the Coffee County Jail. He has since been released.
