The South Georgia State College Hawks are 4-1 overall and 4-0 in conference play after defeating the Southern Crescent Technical College Tigers 10-1 Friday afternoon on the SGSC campus.
The Hawks also have wins over the Tigers (16-0, September 5) and the Central Georgia Technical College Tigers (7-0, September 8). SGSC’s lone loss came on September 6 against Daytona State College (5-0), the defending national champions and #1-ranked team in the country.
In the second meeting between the Hawks and the Tigers, Tori Dinkins and Allie Hemmings each scored four goals apiece. Holly MacLaurin and Addie Hemmings added the other two goals. MacLaurin also had three assists.
Several Hawks sit atop the Georgia Collegiate Athletic Association leaderboards. Allie Hemmings leads the conference with 10 goals followed by Dinkins with eight. Sophia Morillo is second in assists with five. Roselyn Williams is fourth with four followed by MacLaurin with three. Allie Hemmings’s 21 points is also the conference’s best thus far. Dinkins has 18 points, good for second. Keeper Toi Collins (17) has the third-most number of saves. She also has the highest save percentage. Katie Lantier has only allowed a conference-best one goal and also has the best goals-against average; Collins sits right behind her in second.
The Hawks travel to Macon today to face Central Georgia Tech. They return home on Tuesday, September 22 to play second-place Gordon in the two teams’ first meeting of the season.
