Mrs. Rachel Whitley Taylor, age 90, of Douglas, Georgia, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 18, 2026, at Vista Park Health and Rehabilitation, with her loving family by her side.
Rachel was born December 29, 1935, to the late Clifford Whitley and the late Sallie Mae Clements Whitley. She was married for 55 wonderful years to her loving soul mate, the late Archie Dillard Taylor. Rachel was known as “the bracelet lady”. She found great enjoyment in making bracelets and would give them away everywhere she went, never letting anyone pay her for them. She was always full of love, kindness, and compassion for everyone and that love was returned by everyone who knew her. Along with her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Wayne Taylor, and a brother, Leon Whitley.
Rachel leaves behind a daughter, Patsy Murray and husband, Lester, of Douglas, Georgia; a son, Brian K. Taylor of Douglas, Georgia; a daughter-in-law, Donna Taylor of Cleveland, Tennessee; a sister, Linda Green of Douglas, Georgia; and a brother, Daniel Whitley and wife, Evelyn, of Maggie Valley, North Carolina. She also leaves behind a host of grandsons and great grandchildren, who were all her pride and joy, along with many nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
Per Rachel’s wishes memorialization will be by cremation and a memorial service honoring her and her late husband will be held by the family at a later date.
