Since Friday night, CCA teams have tallied 124 points over four games. The Patriot football team scored a program record 61 on Friday. In three games over two days against the First Preparatory Academy Highlanders – a doubleheader in Douglas on Monday and a single game in Hinesville on Tuesday – the Lady Patriots’ softball team has scored 63 runs.
After sweeping the Highlanders Monday (18-0 and 21-1), CCA defeated First Preparatory 24-1 Tuesday afternoon in three innings. The last three games between the two games have taken just eight innings to complete.
The Lady Patriots scored 13 runs in the first inning and 11 in the second. Brilynn Waldron and Mattie Lewis led the way for CCA offensively. Waldron was 4-5 with four runs and two RBI. Lewis was 3-4 with seven RBI and two runs. She hit a three-run home run as a part of the second-inning rally. Klair Mercer had two hits, one of which was a triple. Waldron (3), Allie Veal, Emma Gourley, Peighton Harper, Mercer, and Lewis all doubled.
Harper tossed 41 pitches over three innings, allowing one earned run on two hits. She struck out seven and didn’t walk anyone.
The Lady Patriots are 17-4 overall and 5-0 in region play this season with five games remaining, only one of which is at home. CCA travels to Vidalia for a game against Vidalia Heritage Academy at 6 p.m. Monday, the two teams play again in Vidalia. Next week, the Lady Patriots have a couple of games against Robert Toombs before finishing the season against Crisp Academy on October 6.
