Kanlee Douglas had a triple and a double while Maggie Brown struck out nine in the Coffee Lady Trojans’ 8-5 win over the Thomas County Central Yellow Jackets Tuesday at Faircloth Field in Douglas. The win ended a three-game skid that improves the Lady Trojans to 11-6 in region play with just a few games remaining.
TCC scored one in the first. Coffee answered with a run in the bottom of the inning to tie the game at 1-1. Douglas led off the inning with a triple then scored on a groundout.
The Lady Trojans continued the offensive barrage, scoring three in the second and four in the third to go up 8-3. The Yellow Jackets added two more in the sixth.
Douglas was 3-4 with two RBI to go with the double and triple. She also scored two runs. Ella Edge drove in four. Bella Purvis had two hits and two runs scored.
Brown scattered nine hits across seven innings. She gave up five runs (three earned) and didn’t walk anyone.
The Lady Trojans travel to Thomas County for a doubleheader on Thursday. Coffee is 14-10 overall and 10-6 against region opponents.
