The CCA Lady Patriots reached the 20-win milestone Tuesday after defeating the Robert Toombs Crusaders 8-0 in Lyons. Since last Thursday, the Lady Patriots have won three in a row by a combined score of 41-4. They also bested Vidalia Heritage 12-1 Thursday and 21-4 on Monday. Both of those games were on the road.
Tuesday in Lyons, Emma Gourley homered twice and drove in six enroute to a 3-3 day. Shanley Meeks threw a one-hit shutout with six strikeouts in the five-inning victory.
CCA scored two in the first, two in the third, and four in the fourth. Gourley hit a two-run homer in the third and a three-run shot in the fourth.
Brilynn Waldron was 3-4 with two runs scored. Klair Mercer also drove in a run.
Last Thursday in Vidalia, Mattie Lewis doubled and homered while Mercer also doubled. Gourley had two hits and scored four times. Meeks and Peighton Harper combined for a two-hitter with seven strikeouts and five walks between them.
Monday, the Lady Patriots finished what was already a 12-0 blowout with nine runs in the fourth inning. Vidalia Heritage got on the board with four in the bottom of the frame but it wasn’t enough to extend the game.
Waldron tripled while Gourley and Lewis doubled. Waldron and Gourley had two hits on the day. Lewis had three. Gourley also drove in three. Waldron and Lewis drove in two.
Meeks and Harper shared the pitching duties again, combining for seven strikeouts.
The Lady Patriots are 20-4 overall and 8-0 in region play with two games remaining. They face the Crusaders at home on Thursday then travel to Crisp Academy next Tuesday to wrap the regular season.
