Douglas police officers arrested a 40-year-old for allegedly leaving the scene of an accident that occurred late in the afternoon of September 11, 2026.
According to the incident report, a vehicle was turning out of the Circle K on the west side of town on to Bowens Mill Road when a Jeep Wrangler driven by Hugo Angel Hidalgo-Roblero ran into it. After the collision, the report says Hidalgo-Roblero left the scene.
Officers were able to locate Hidalgo-Roblero at his home. When they spoke to him, the report says, he stated that he left the scene because he thought the other vehicle left as well. According to the report, officers could tell that Hidalgo-Roblero had been drinking but they were unable to determine if he was above the legal limit at the time of the accident.
Hidalgo-Roblero was arrested and charged with hit and run/leaving the scene of an accident. He was booked into the Coffee County Jail and later released with a copy of the charges.
