Douglas-Coffee County Teen Court will hold its orientation on Saturday, October 31, 2026, 9:00 a.m., at City Hall (302 S. Madison Avenue) introducing participants to the program’s purpose, expectations, and opportunities for youth involvement. Any Coffee County student in grades 6-12, that is interested in becoming a prosecutor, defense attorney, bailiff, juror, or court clerk should attend the orientation.
Youth volunteers are vital to Teen Court, supporting the court process and helping manager real-life cases. Participation offers an opportunity to develop leadership, communication, and decision-making skills while making a difference in the community. It also provides valuable experience for students interested in careers in law, counseling, or law enforcement.
Teen Court gives teens who have committed minor offenses a second chance to make positive choices while learning about accountability and the consequences of their actions. The program encourages personal growth and helps deter youth from committing more serious offenses. The orientation will help participants understand how Teen Court operates and the responsibilities involved in supporting the program.
