Brent G. Sims, age 61, of Hazlehurst, Georgia, passed away on Sunday, October 11, 2026, at his residence. He was born on November 23, 1964, to the late Hughes and Martha Sims.
Brent found great joy in deer hunting with his faithful dogs, spending cherished time with his beloved grandchildren, and fishing. These simple pleasures brought him happiness and created lasting memories with the people and pastimes he loved most.
His survivors include: one son, Brandon Sims (Taylor) of Nicholls, Georgia; one daughter, Brittani Kirkland (Freeman) of Douglas, Georgia; one sister, Brenda Paulk (Doyle) of Ambrose, Georgia; four grandchildren, Kennedi Kirkland, Lane Sims, Liam Kirkland, and Tanner Sims; and nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
Brent is preceded in death by not only his parents but also two brothers, Mel Sims and Greg Sims.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, October 20, 2026, in the chapel of Sims Funeral Home. A graveside service will follow at Douglas City Cemetery. The Sims family will receive friends and family one hour prior to the service.
