UPDATE TO THIS REPORT: Several hours after publishing this story, Carrie Anne Johnson, believed to be the primary aggressor in this incident, was arrested and charged with two counts of aggravated assault and one count of possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime. Cruelty to children charges may be forthcoming as well. She was booked into the Coffee County Jail and remains incarcerated. At the time of this update, Emilee Jacklyn Adams was undergoing surgery at a trauma center. She remains in very serious condition.

A domestic incident/love triangle turned into a triple shooting Wednesday night in Douglas. One of the three individuals involved in the incident sustained life-threatening injuries and is being treated at an undisclosed trauma center.

According to a press release from the Douglas Police Department, around 7:30 p.m. on March 20, 2024, officers from the Douglas Police Department responded to 601 E. Bryan St. in reference to gunshots fired at the location. At the scene, officers located two individuals outside the residence, both female, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Carrie Ann Johnson, 35, was located beside a vehicle in the driveway area of the residence and the second female, 31-year-old, Emilee Jacklyn Adams, was found lying under the carport of the residence. Officers were advised of a third person inside the residence who had also been shot. There, officers located a 34-year-old male, William Lenard Johnson, with a single gunshot wound to his leg. All three individuals were transported by EMS to Coffee Regional Medical Center for treatment.

William Lenard Johnson remains at Coffee Regional Medical Center where he is being treated for non life-threatening injuries. Shortly after arriving at the hospital, Carrie Ann Johnson was transported to a different treatment center by helicopter for further treatment. Emilee Jacklyn Adams suffered life-threatening injuries that required stabilizing efforts at CRMC prior to being transported to an undisclosed treatment center by ambulance. Both females remain hospitalized at this time. The last update received from medical staff indicated that both were believed to be critical but stable. Officers are attempting to get an update on their condition at this time.

The investigation is ongoing with the initial evidence indicating that no other individuals or offenders are involved in this incident. All persons involved were familiar with each other and it is believed that this is a family violence related incident.

All three were shot outside of the residence with no other offenders or suspects being sought at this time.

This is a domestic violence related incident with Carrie Johnson and Lenard Johnson sharing a residence outside the City of Douglas and Emilee Jacklyn Adams having a prior relationship with Lenard Johnson.
