Mr. Jimmy Lee Mancil Sr., 78 of Douglas, Georgia passed away Wednesday morning, January 24, 2024 at his residence following an extended illness.

Mr. Mancil was born March 11, 1945 to the late Naomi Varnedore Whitman in Douglas, Georgia and was adopted by his maternal grandparents, the late Earnest and Alzada Mancil of Ambrose, Georgia. He graduated from Coffee County High School in 1963 and in his early adult years he worked as a meat cutter at Winn-Dixie Supermarkets for several years all over the South Georgia area. He later started a career in car sales. Mr. Mancil owned and operated his own used car business, E & J Auto Sales in Douglas, Georgia, for over 30 years before his retirement.

Mr. Mancil is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Johnnie Faye Spivey Mancil; one son, Jimmy Lee Mancil Jr. (Lisa) of Douglas, Georgia; 2 grandsons: Michael Mancil of Douglas, Georgia and Frankie Westberry of Statesboro, Georgia; 2 granddaughters: Savannah Westberry (Kaleb Sweat) of Brunswick, Georgia and Hope Miller (Josh) of Douglas, Georgia. He is also survived by 4 great-grandchildren: Madison Mancil, Michael ā€œMJā€ Mancil, Jr., Malikai Sweat and Kagan Miller; siblings: George Hofacker (Shirley) of Jacksonville, FL, Kenneth Wayne Whitman (Brenda) of Texas, Donna Poynter (Dennis) of Cranberry, PA and Linda Gail Loergel, of Oregon; along with several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Naomi Varnedore Whitman; his grandparents, Earnest and Alzada Mancil; and his daughter, Mellany Renee Mancil Vickers.

The family will receive friends Thursday evening, January 25, 2024 from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM in the Ricketson Funeral Home Chapel. A graveside service will be held Friday afternoon, January 26, 2024 at 2:00 PM at Salem Cemetery with Bishop Byron Griffis and Bro. Jason Merritt officiating.

Active pallbearers will be: Jimmy Lee Mancil, Jr., Donnie Pridgen, Frankie Westberry, Chris Vickers, Josh Miller, and Caleb Sweat.

The family would like to express deep appreciation to his caregivers, Rhonda Harrell and Michael Mancil. Condolences may be left at www.ricketsonfuneralhome.com.
