Mr. Robert “Bob” Russell Johnson, age 93 of Douglas, passed away Friday, July 18, 2014, at Coffee Regional Medical Center following an extended illness. He was born June 18, 1921, in Chicago, IL, to the late Robert Benjamin Johnson and Gertrude Landry Johnson.

Mr. Johnson is survived by his wife of 69 years, Bobbie Swift Johnson of Douglas; a daughter, Jan Knight of Wauchula, FL; a son, Tom (Wanda) Johnson of Roswell; granddaughter, Jennifer (Ronnie) Franz and two great grandchildren, Riley Franz and Kendyll Franz of Cookeville, TN. Bob also has two nephews, Hugh (Gayla) Hutchings and Gene Hutchings of Sparta.

Visitation for Mr. Johnson will be held Sunday, June 20, 2014, from 6 to 9 p.m. at Sims Funeral Home.

Funeral services for Mr. Johnson will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, July 21, 2014, at the First United Methodist Church of Douglas. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Bob’s name to the American Cancer Socity, the First United Methodist Church, or The American Bible Society (americanbible.org).

Sims Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
