Coley Hampton Davis, age 87 of Douglas, passed away Tuesday, July 29, 2014, at his residence following an extended illness. Mr. Davis was born March 30, 1927, in Douglas to the late Archie Coley Davis and Renner Wright Davis.

Survivors include his wife, Virginia Gourley Davis of Douglas; two grandsons, Dusty Hampton (Candace) Davis of Baxley and Roman Coley Davis of Houston, TX; son, Mark (Modona) Davis; three special nieces, Jane McKinnon, Virginia O’Steen, and Julie Heulitt; cousin and best friend, Clifford Davis of Adel. He is preceded in death by his sister, Lavada Inman and three infant brothers.

Visitation was held Thursday, July 31, 2014.

Funeral services will be held Friday, August 1, 2014, at 2 p.m. at First Baptist Church, with Rev. Shep Johnson, Rev. Michael Bass, Joe Day, Bonnie Thomas, and Roman Coley Davis officiating. Interment will follow at Douglas City Cemetery.

Sims Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
