Coffee Co. Jail inmate escapes, still missing

Coffee County Sheriff Doyle Wooten has confirmed an inmate assigned to a work detail at the Child Advocacy Center in Douglas walked off from his work detail this afternoon and is still missing.

The inmate, identified as 36-year-old Gabriel Benjamin Carelock, was assigned to a work a detail remodeling the Child Advocacy Center and had been on the detail for three weeks.

Sheriff Wooten stated the guard assigned to Carelock told the sheriff Carelock had stepped outside to saw some plywood and took flight.

Carelock was incarcerated on a contempt order for child support and traffic violations. He is not considered to be dangerous, and his last known employment was as an self-employed carpenter.

Carelock is described as a white male, six feet tall, 165lbs., with brown hair and blue eyes.

Anyone with information about Carelock’s whereabouts is asked to contact the Coffee County Sheriff’s Office at (912) 384-4227 or Coffee County 911.

    They ORT to leave that man alone anyway if all they got him on is child support n traffic violations. Need be more worried bout some real criminals out here stealing robbing n killing folks, I swear this world priorities n ways has gotten way out ta hand.. God be with us all plz for we ain’t truly free no more, we’re all just bond by laws now..
