Banks and financial institutions across Georgia will be celebrating Georgia Peanut Bank Week, Oct. 18-25, 2014. Financial institutions in communities across the state are saluting peanut farmers’ contributions to the state and local economy during this weeklong event. The Georgia Peanut Commission, in cooperation with the Georgia Bankers Association, promotes Georgia’s official state crop by sponsoring Georgia Peanut Bank Week annually.

This year’s theme, “Peanuts: Power You Can Bank On,” will showcase the importance of peanuts and how Georgia’s peanut farmers contribute approximately $2 billion annually to the state and local economy to help maintain Georgia’s largest industry, agriculture. The theme will also highlight the National Peanut Board’s new campaign, The Perfectly Powerful Peanut: a platform showcasing the powerhouse of nutrition peanuts have to offer.

“This is the thirty-eighth year we will be celebrating Georgia’s peanut farmers in cooperation with financial institutions,” says Armond Morris, chairman of the Georgia Peanut Commission. “We have a great nutritional message to share with consumers and we hope by incorporating peanuts into their diet, they will feel the power peanuts have to offer.”

FNBCC urges everyone to stop by and find out how peanuts can contribute to a healthy diet. Recipes, peanuts and other promotional items will be available throughout the week. “Come join us at FNBCC as peanut farmers prepare for harvest and bring both continued and new business to our community,” says Dale Morris, President FNBCC.
