Detectives with the Coffee County Sheriff’s Office are reporting the arrests of several individuals they say are responsible for a number of recent thefts and burglaries.

On Dec. 6, a burglary was reported at the office of Douglas Mechanical on U.S. Highway 211 North. The owner told officials someone entered the business and stole several items, including a Titleist golf bag with over $2,475 worth of clubs in it.

According to detectives, the door was not locked; therefore, there was no forced entry to the business.

During the investigation of an unrelated incident, deputies and detectives came into contact with Garrett Adams. During the encounter with Adams, it was determined that he was in possession of the property that was taken from the business on Hwy 221 North.

As a result of the investigation, Adams, age 22, was arrested and charged with one count of second degree burglary and one count of theft by taking.  He is currently being held in the Coffee County Jail without bond. The property was recovered and returned to the owner.

Also in early December, a theft was reported on Arley Solomon Road in northern Coffee County. The property owner reported that someone had stolen a pressure washer from his barn. The property owner advised detectives of the description of the pressure washer and an investigation into the theft ensued.

During this investigation, detectives developed the name Rusty Spell as being a person of interest. Contact was made with Spell and authorities were able to determine that he, in fact, was the person that committed the crime.

Spell was arrested and charged with one count of second degree burglary. During an interview with the suspect, Spell admitted to being the person that took the pressure washer. He is being held without bond in the Coffee County Jail on a parole violation.

The property was recovered and returned to the owner.

On Nov. 19, a burglary was reported at 563 Weeks Road. The home owner reported that someone had entered his residence and taken some of his belongings.

Detectives were able to determine that entry was made by force through a window on the north end of the house. Reported taken was a PS4 PlayStation and three games valued at $580.

During the investigation, detectives located a PlayStation and the games fitting the description of the property reported stolen at Top Dollar Pawn Shop in Douglas.

Upon further investigation, it was determined that Darius Quaysuan Tyson was the person responsible for the theft. As a result, Tyson was arrested and charged with one count of first degree burglary. He has since been released on a $5,000 bond.

The property was recovered and returned to its owner.

On December 11, a report of shoplifting was reported at Jerry’s Gun Shop in Ambrose. The owner stated he was looking around the store when he noticed that he was missing a upper piece to a Rock River Arms LAR-15.

The store owner reported that he determined that it was a theft after watching the surveillance video. He further stated that the theft had taken place on the 6th of December.

While watching the video, detectives were able to see a man dressed in camouflage clothing enter the store and go to the area where the semi-auto rifles were located. They also observed the man as he went into the back corner of the store and stayed for a brief moment.

Once leaving the back corner of the store, the man proceeded to leave and detectives could tell he was walking in a manner unlike the way he entered the store, as if he was trying to conceal something under his pants.

According to the store owner, the man was a frequent customer from Telfair County by the name of Jimmy Davis.

After viewing the surveillance video, detectives made contact with the Telfair County Sheriff’s Office for their assistance in apprehending the individual.

As a result of the investigation, 44-year-old Jimmy Columbus Davis was arrested and charged with one count of felony shoplifting and transported to the Coffee County Jail. Mr. Davis has since been released on a $5,000 bond.

The property was recovered and returned to the owner.
