Would you like to learn more about your local government? If so, you should register for the free Douglas 101: Citizen’s Academy program. Students of this program will learn about the day to day operations of the different departments that help to run the City.

“We are looking for motivated citizens who are excited to learn more about the daily operations of the City of Douglas,” says Georgia Henderson, Public Information Director. “The classes will be educational with hands-on activities and tours of city departments.”

Anticipated class dates will be in the second quarter of 2015 and will be determined once 12-20 participants are registered. To participate in the class, you must be at least 18 years of age and able to attend the sessions on Tuesday nights beginning at 6 p.m. There will be one Saturday morning tour scheduled for the class and one Monday night session for students to sit in on a City Commission meeting.

For more information, or to register for the class, please call  (912) 383-0277.
