Mrs. Waunelle Benton Kimbrel, age 81, passed away in Pooler, GA on January 23, 2015 following an extended illness. Mrs. Kimbrel was born in Douglas, GA on February 16, 1933 to the late Edd Benton and Ruby Kirkland Benton. She was preceded in deathy by her husband, Billy Kimbrel.

Survivors include one daughter: Cathy (Ron) Rose of Pooler, GA; two sons: Rev. Billy (Dr. Jane) Kimbrel of Ft. Valley, GA; and Emmitt Babe Kimbrel of Douglas, GA; six grandchildren, Macon (Mike) Clemmons; Lauralyn (Michael) Jarrell, Zeke Corbitt, Abbyjane Kimbrel, Robert (Erin) Kimbrel andCatherine (Marc) Bond; seven great grandchildren, Tripp Jarrell, Noah Jarrell, Chloe Jarrell, Evan Jarrell, Emma Jarrell, Lacie Scordina, Mallory Clemmons, Kelly Clemmons and Dylan Clemmons.

Mrs. Kimbrel was an active member at First United Methodist of Douglas, the United Methodist Women’s Organization, active in the Harper’s Bazaar every year.. Her first love was taking care of her family, She enjoyed keeping her yard beautiful, taking walks especially on the beach and she also enjoyed camping. After moving to Pooler she became an active member at the Pooler Senior Citizens Center. Memorials may be made to the Pooler Senior Citizens Center, 755 Plantation Dr., Pooler, GA. 31322.

Mrs. Kimbrel’s family will be receiving friends and loved ones Sunday, January 25, 2015 from 5 to 7 PM at Sims Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held Monday, January 26, 2015 at First United Methodist Church in Douglas with Rev. Sam Vernon and Rev. John McGowen officiating. Interment will follow at Douglas City Cemetery.
