Mr. Loyd Vernon Courson, age 89, of Douglas passed away Wednesday afternoon, March 25, 2015, at his residence following an extended illness. He was born on October 19, 1925, to the late Loyd Courson and the late Frances Bagley Courson. He was preceded in Death by his late wife Elizabeth Lawanna “Wannie” Griffin Courson.

Survivors include: 1 Daughter: Kathy (Wendell) Rewis of Alma, Ga.; 4 Sons: Rodney (Glenda) Courson, Dalton (Annette) Courson, and William David Courson, Sr. all of Douglas, Ga., and Charles (Peggy) Courson of Tifton, Ga.; 1 Sister: Maurice Belcher of Douglas, Ga.; 1 Brother: Rodean (Lois) Courson of Douglas, Ga.; 17 Grandchildren, 30 Great Grandchildren, and 10 Great Great Grandchildren. Several Nieces, Nephews, Friends, and Other Relatives.

Funeral Services will be Friday, March 27, 2015, at 2:00 P. M., at Bethel Baptist Church with the Rev. Rodney Courson, Jr. and the Rev. Elisha Purvis, Jr. officiating. The interment to follow in the Bethel Cemetery. Mr. Courson will be placed in the church, Friday at 1:00 P.M., to lie in State, until the funeral hour. The family will begin receiving friends, Thursday evening from 6:00 to 9:00 P.M., at Ricketson Funeral Home.

Ricketson Funeral Home is in charge of the Arrangements.
