Visit the World War II Flight Training Museum for free this Fourth of July.  If you have never been or want to come back and see some of our new additions, there is no better time to visit than on America’s birthday.

Come learn about the “greatest generation,” World War II, and our community’s local connection. Aircraft restoration projects and military vehicles will also be available for view. Children will be able to make and take a paper airplane, as well as embark on the Jr. Cadet Flight Activity Passport Contest.

Hotdogs will be cooked up and served and drinks will be available.  Stop by anytime between 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

For more information, questions, or to learn more about the Jr. Cadet Flight Activity Passport Contest, call (912) 383-9111 during open hours or go to wwiiflightraining.org.

Established in 1941 to train pilots during World War II, the 63rd Flying Training Detachment taught thousands of cadets how to conquer the sky. Visitors to the museum and grounds will learn what the cadets experienced when they arrived on base, how they lived, and how they learned to fly. All of the buildings you see today are original to the base and the entire base has recently been placed on the National Register of Historic Places.

The museum is located at 3 Airport Circle, Douglas, GA and is open Thursday-Saturday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
