Amanda Dee Hiers, 44, of Douglas, was arrested and charged with criminal trespass after she allegedly attempted to steal clothing from a local retailer.
A report from the Douglas Police Department states that an officer responded to a call at the store at around 3 p.m. on August 28, 2026. When the officer arrived, the store manager was confronting Hiers for allegedly shoplifting merchandise.
The manager stated that Hiers had been in a dressing room for over an hour. She accused Hiers of stealing clothing, which Hiers denied, according to the report. However, the report adds that Hiers appeared to be wearing store merchandise under her own clothing.
When asked about the clothes she was wearing, Hiers agreed to take off the store merchandise and said she was just trying on those items. The report says that Hiers started undressing in the open area. She was wearing two bras and a pair of underwear. The manager told her she could keep the underwear, the report says.
Inside the dressing room were more items of clothing, most of which had the security tags removed.
Hiers was arrested and charged with criminal trespass. She was booked into the Coffee County Jail and released on a $1,315 property bond.
