Farmers, business professionals, clergy, and community members gathered for a time of breakfast, fellowship, prayer, and recognition Friday morning at the C.E. Weir Center for the Douglas-Coffee County Chamber of Commerce’s annual Blessing of the Crops event.
A valued tradition in Coffee County, the Blessing of the Crops provides an opportunity for the community to gather in gratitude and seek blessings for a safe and productive farming season. The morning began with breakfast, followed by a program focused on faith and the importance of agriculture to the local economy and way of life.
Georgia Commissioner of Agriculture Tyler Harper delivered remarks recognizing the strength and impact of Georgia’s agricultural industry and the vital role Coffee County farmers play in it. State Representative Angie O’Steen, along with other community members, offered prayers for protection, provision, and a fruitful harvest season in the months ahead.
During the program, agricultural leaders were recognized with 2026 honors. John Harry Dockery was named Ag Professional of the Year, and Eli and Jenna O’Steen were recognized as Farm Family of the Year. In addition, the Lifetime Achievement Award in Coffee County Agriculture was presented to Lanier Raulerson and subsequently officially named the Lanier Raulerson Lifetime Achievement Award, honoring his longstanding contributions and legacy within the local agricultural community.
The Blessing of the Crops continues to serve as a meaningful reminder of the unity, faith, and dedication that define Coffee County agriculture. The Douglas-Coffee County Chamber of Commerce extends appreciation to all who attended and supported this annual event.
