The Atkinson County Fire Department has been awarded a grant to replace nearly three-quarters of a mile of fire hose.
The department received a $15,292 Fireworks Tax Grant. The funds were used to purchase 48 sections of 2.5-inch fire hose (2,400 feet) and 24 sections of 1.5-inch fire hose (1,200 feet). According to a post on the department’s Facebook page, “reliable fire hose is one of the most essential pieces of equipment we use during fire suppression operations. This grant allows us to continue upgrading our equipment while reducing the financial burden on our local taxpayers.”
The grant helps fund the fire department’s continued improvements to its equipment and ability to provide fire protection to the Atkinson County community.
