Earlier this week, the Coffee County Sheriff’s Office treated over 100 local children by knocking some of their Christmas items off their wish list during their 25th annual Shop With A Cop. The families met dozens of deputies from the CCSO, along with officers from the Douglas Police Department, the GBI, EMS personnel, and other public safety officials, at the CCSO yesterday afternoon. Families were then paired up with a deputy and received an escorted ride in a lit-up patrol car from the office to the Douglas Walmart. The children and officers stormed each aisle as…

Last month, Kermit James, 53, of Douglas, was arrested after local officers discovered over 15 pounds of marijuana, close to 2 grams of cocaine, and 1 gram of suspected MDMA in his home. James Flanagan, 56, was recently arrested on an aggravated assault charge following an altercation that reportedly stemmed from a dispute regarding cigarettes and loaned money. According to an incident report, on December 5, deputies were notified by dispatchers of an alleged assault occurring on County Meadows Road. The annual Eggs & Issues event will take place next week, allowing citizens to speak to state representatives before the 2022 assembly session. Eggs & Issues will consist of a Q&A session and remarks from local legislators, including House of Representatives Clay Pirkle and James Burchett and Senators Carden Summers and Blake Tillery.
