Monday night, deputies with the Coffee County Sheriff’s Office assisted the U.S. Marshals in apprehending a 45-year-old male who was wanted on a federal warrant. The offender, Reynaldo Deleon Jr., was wanted in another state on the warrant but had been living in Douglas. Last week, the Grand Jury heard dozens of cases. The jury handed down indictments against more than 30 individuals, many of who made headlines at the end of 2022. One of the individuals whose charges were indicted last week, Bobby Allen Ducker, was the subject of one of DouglasNow’s most memorable stories last fall. Almost ten years after being released from prison following convictions for selling and possessing cocaine, 37-year-old Kevin Landers has returned to the Coffee County Jail for the same offense. Last week, detectives with the Coffee County Drug Unit and K-9 deputies executed a search warrant on Landers at his residence, located at 203 South Daughtry Avenue. During the search, detectives discovered a .22-caliber rifle, approximately seven grams of suspected crack cocaine, around two grams of marijuana, and over $1,800 that was reported as proceeds from the sale of illegal narcotics. The case will now be heard in six months, with Jeffery Harper’s trial rescheduled for August. Jury selection for the state’s case against Jason Anderson was set to begin on Monday, with opening statements to begin the following morning.
