A 15-year-old female in Douglas has been charged after allegedly cutting a 12-year-old boy with a knife on North Wheeler Avenue this weekend. According to a copy of a Douglas Police Department incident report, an officer was dispatched to the area of North Wheeler Avenue on July 10 around 5:52 p.m. after being informed that a 12-year-old boy had been injured with a knife. A local man, Joseph Horne, who was the suspect in an abduction-related AMBER Alert that was sent out early Monday morning, has been apprehended and taken into custody. According to a Coffee County Sheriff’s incident report, on July 11, around 1:30 a.m., a CCSO deputy was dispatched to 245 Huckleberry Road in reference to a kidnapping of a 1-year-old child, Lucas Horne. Three men who have been serving time in prison for convictions out of Coffee County recently completed their sentences in Georgia Department of Corrections facilities within the last few weeks. All men were released on their maximum completion date after serving time on a variety of charges, including possession of cocaine, aggravated assault, and entering a vehicle with the intent to commit a felony. The first offender, Cube Contario Evans, served the lesser sentence of the three inmates, with only a 5-month stay in the Montgomery State Prison. A 14-year-old female was recently charged with aggravated assault after she allegedly got upset with her father and attempted to stab him with four kitchen knives. According to a Douglas Police Department incident report, on July 3 around 8:48 p.m., an officer responded to a residence on Pinecrest Drive after receiving a call regarding a domestic altercation. Superior Court Judge Andy Spivey recently denied a motion requesting a new trial for Brandon Levi Williams following his 2017 murder conviction. As a result of the denial, the jury’s verdict will stand and Williams will continue serving his life sentence for the death of 22-year-old Kavozia Walker. The fatal shooting took place at the Georgian Wood Apartments in Douglas on February 19, 2016. A 33-year-old woman, Chasity Tackett, and her 7-year-old daughter Ashlyn Payton, recently lost their lives in a one-vehicle car crash that occurred on Georgia Highway 32 East. A copy of a Georgia State Patrol report states that on June 26, Tackett and her daughter were traveling west on Highway 32 near Wendell Sears Road shortly before 8:00 p.m. when she exited the roadway on the north shoulder entering the ditch. Alexandria Bowen, who was arrested in May for her alleged participation in her boyfriend’s heroin operation, was recently granted a $75,000 bond. The ruling came after a hearing held in the Superior Court of Coffee County last month. Bowen’s boyfriend, Skylar Merson, was arrested in February of this year after he was indicted on several charges, including trafficking, and accused of being in possession of almost 33 grams of heroin at the time of his arrest. Last week, a man, 73-year-old Oscar Manuel Camacho, charged with murder and aggravated assault in 2020, pleaded guilty to manslaughter and aggravated assault in the Superior Court of Coffee County. The murder charge was recently reduced to manslaughter following an immunity hearing held in May. A young woman from Douglas, A’Ryshanae McTear, lost her life in the early morning hours of June 25 when she was hit by two vehicles while walking down 1-10 in Jacksonville. McTear was in Florida celebrating her 26th birthday just hours before she was killed. Troopers with the Florida High Patrol reported that McTear was walking westbound in the outside travel lane on I-10 at approximately 2:50 a.m. According to officers, she was struck by two vehicles also traveling westbound.
