Officers with the Atkinson County Sheriff’s Office made a fourth arrest, 17-year-old Isaiah Wright of Douglas, in the slew of armed robberies in Pearson and Willacoochee that occurred over the last month. Officials are also still searching for one suspect who is accused to have taken part in the burglaries. On Monday, Deedrick Donte Pickett, a 36-year-old man from Ambrose, pleaded guilty to an aggravated assault charge in the Superior Court of Coffee County. Pickett was arrested on the charge, and two counts of criminal trespassing, in 2020 for cutting another man with a knife during a dispute at a gathering. The case was set to be heard by a jury during a trial this month. However, Pickett pleaded to the charges Monday morning before jury selection would have taken place. A man who pleaded guilty to two counts of incest in 2004, Jackie Lee Brinson, was recently removed from the sex offender registry following a hearing in the Superior Court of Coffee County. In October 2004, Brinson was indicted on two counts of incest, both of which accuse him of “unlawfully engaging in sexual intercourse with two individuals whom he was related to by blood as brother and sister.” According to the indictment, the acts were said to have been committed in March 2002 and February 2003. A Clinch County woman, 44-year-old Mary Shannon Smith, was recently charged for allegedly pulling behind a woman’s vehicle in her driveway and stabbing her “multiple times.” Deputies also stated that Smith was said to have contacted 911 shortly before the incident occurred and made complaints regarding the victim’s driving. Officers from the Coffee County Sheriff’s Office recently arrested a man who allegedly burned a pile of his girlfriend’s clothes in a fire near her front porch. The suspect, 42-year-old Steven Eugene Sellers of Douglas, is also accused of stealing two of her TVs on the same day. A 19-year-old of Douglas has been charged with murder in the recent fatal shooting of 18-year-old Savion McRae, according to an official with the Georgia Bureau of Investigation. The GBI official confirmed to DouglasNow that Shamond Jaquavious Campbell is currently being held in the Coffee County Jail in connection to McRae’s death.
