Wow, I have received, as of this minute, almost 20,000 views on the Cream Cheese Pound Cake I posted. Maybe the views were because of my photos, curiosity of the recipe, Thanksgiving coming up soon or just dessert lovers! Whatever the reason, thank you from the bottom of my heart for clicking on my page and viewing the recipes and articles. I hope everyone who read the recipe and baked this poundcake enjoyed it! Well, since I had such good luck with the Cream Cheese Pound Cake, I set out to find another recipe to try. This week I’m…
There’s nothing better than a warm pound cake right out of the oven with butter spread on top and a hot cup of coffee. I don’t know if anyone else spreads butter on theirs but you’ve got to try it. This recipe is my sister-in-law’s, Gail Gillis. She’s a wonderful cook and can whip up a perfect pound cake in her sleep! Mine was not as good as hers but practice makes perfect, as the old saying goes. So I was curious and discovered this is where the phrase originated. The quote “practice makes perfect” is a proverb that…

To say our lives will never be the same is an understatement. Who would have ever thought that such a natural disaster would touch our State in such a way as this, especially our County? After all the hype for years by the Weather Channel or weather outlets that we were going to get hit by a hurricane and nothing culminated to the extent they expressed, we were not prepared, or at least our family wasn’t. It really became real to me when the first few trees hit the ground and shook our home. It was a night I will…
We were blessed to host a couple at our home for a weekend from St. Vincent, Bro. Cecil Richards and his wife Carol. Bro. Cecil is the pastor of Kingstown Baptist Church in St. Vincent and he also has other associational duties. He is very active in preparing and organizing our mission trips each summer on the islands and that is no easy task. Coordinating daily transportation and where we will be ministering each day is exhausting, to say the least. He’s a trooper and completely thrilled to be able to assist our group. As I’ve written in a previous…
