At Monday’s regular city commission meeting, commissioners agreed to grant a special exception variance with an 80 percent maximum impervious surface coverage to the Foresite Group of Peachtree Corners in order to develop the ALDI grocery store along with three other as-yet unnamed national retailers. The site of the development is the north side of the intersection of Bowens Mill Road and South Gaskin Avenue. The Tigers earned a berth in the JUCO World Series by winning the GCAA conference tournament then defeating another set of Tigers — the Chattanooga State Community College Tigers (Tennessee) in the best two out of three district series. Technology has without a doubt improved society — the convenience, the efficiency, the ease with which we communicate, the endless information we have at our fingertips. Riding a motorcycle/moped without a helmet — along with allegedly fleeing a traffic stop while having marijuana and cocaine in his pocket — landed Shedrick Dion Eddington, 21, in jail last week. During a patrol on Highway 221 North and Lakeside Drive, detectives saw Eddington driving a motorcycle or a moped without a helmet. The detectives stopped Eddington, who the incident report says told them he was Darius Spencer. While the officers were checking his identity, Eddington fled on foot. He crossed Highway 221 and into the woods between Red Oak Street and Chadwick Street. He kept running…
