Little Bit might be in more than just a little bit of trouble after being implicated in a stabbing and beating incident Sunday afternoon on North Pearl Avenue. According to a report obtained from the Douglas Police Department, a female subject identified only as Little Bit is a suspect in an altercation with a male named Devon Stone. The Coffee County Sheriff’s Office and Pearson Police Department are looking for Emanuel Rojo, a 23-year-old Hispanic male, who ran from Coffee County deputies Tuesday afternoon. Rojo is wanted in connection with multiple shootings in the Atkinson and Coffee area. Rojo is described as 5’6″ tall, 150 pounds, a neck tattoo that reads “JR,” full beard and dark hair. He was last seen in the area between the Satilla River Hills and Bear Creek Mobile Home Park, wearing blue jeans and a blue hoodie or jacket. According to a statement posted by Telfair County Sheriff Chris Steverson, James Mitchell Metts, 32, an escaped inmate from the Bacon County Jail in Alma, has been captured in Telfair County. Telfair County authorities captured Metts Tuesday night after a short foot chase. Coffee County K9 units and officers from the Georgia Department of Corrections assisted in apprehending Metts, who had escaped from the Bacon County Jail Sunday morning. He allegedly stole an Audi A4 soon after escaping. The car was recovered in Telfair County a little later.

Wednesday afternoon, a Coffee County jury convicted Dedrick Allen Johnson of Nicholls of two counts of concealing a death in connection with the February 2019 murders of Kristian Bell, 25, and Steven James Ward, 35. The bodies of Bell and Ward were found buried in a makeshift grave on property off Deep Woods Road just outside of Nicholls on Feb. 9, 2019, during an investigation into Bell’s disappearance. Late last week, Department of Natural Resources officers made an arrest after a 13-point buck was allegedly shot and killed from a roadway in Willacoochee. According to a post on the DNR’s Facebook page, game warden Luke Rabun received a tip that a 13-point buck had been shot from a vehicle on Nov. 26 in Willacoochee. Rabun investigated the incident and he, along with Cpl. Tim Hutto, gained a confession from a passenger in the vehicle as well as the alleged shooter. Talk about a case of being in the right place at the right time. On Sunday, Nov. 17, 2019, a sheriff’s deputy happened upon six dogs attacking a woman in Oak Park. He stopped the attack, possibly saving the victim’s life, and the woman was hospitalized as a result of her injuries. In the Douglas city election Tuesday night, incumbents won the day while the tax allocation district (TAD) referendum passed by an overwhelming majority. Douglas mayor Tony Paulk faced opposition from two challengers, Kevin Carver and Terrance Coley. Paulk won easily, 1,432 votes to Carver’s 443 and Coley’s 383. Candidates in three city wards — Wards 1, 2, and 3 — had opposition as well. In Ward 1, Ed Taylor defeated James Perry 244-79. Coffee High School is dropping down a classification for athletics next season – at least that’s what the Georgia High School Association (GHSA) has proposed in its region reclassifications released Tuesday. CHS has been competing in the 6A classification for the last several years. Beginning next year, though, the Trojans will compete in 5A. With 1,755 students, Coffee would be the 13th largest school in 5A. While the regions for the new classifications have not been released, notable 5A programs nearby include Ware, Statesboro, Warner Robins, Veterans, and Wayne.
