Kenneth McCrimmon pled guilty today to the 2017 murder of Jennifer McCrimmon. Assistant District Attorney John Rumker prosecuted the case and Judge Andy Spivey presided over the proceedings. Jennifer’s autopsy revealed her cause of death to be multiple blunt force trauma. On Dec. 26, 2017, at 7:48 a.m., Coffee County deputies were dispatched to 1168 Truelove Road in reference to a possible deceased person. According to a press release posted by TheTrucker.com, Landstar System Inc., Marshall Mizell of Pearson has been named the Landstar 2018 Rookie of the Year. Mizell is an independent agent with Landstar System, Inc. He received the award at Landstar’s Agent Convention held in Marco Island, Florida, this month. In less than two weeks, the trip from Douglas to Waycross is about to take a little longer. According to a press release from the Georgia Department of Transportation, Highway 158 between Douglas and Waycross will close for a year or more beginning Monday, April 29, 2019 for bridge construction. The DOT will oversee construction on the bridges over the Satilla River (Sgt. Jerry Bagley Memorial Bridge), the Satilla River Overflow, and Fullwood Creek as crews tear down and rebuild the bridges. Plans have finally been announced for the proposed shopping center at the site of the old high school. The plans include retail shops and restaurants – but no grocery store. At the joint city, county and school board meeting on Tuesday, March 26, 2019, City Manager Charles Davis introduced Perlis Nease Development to local officials for updates concerning the re-development of the old high school grounds. According to an announcement made on its Web site, Lifeway stated it will continue to operate LifeWay.com and its Customer Service Center, which can be reached at 1-800-458-2772. Earlier today, the Coffee County Sheriff’s Office announced that three individuals had been arrested for allegedly robbing Evans Grocery at gunpoint in January. Later in the day Friday, the Douglas Police Department released a statement reporting that those same three individuals, along with one other, had also been charged in connection with five other armed robberies in the city – three of which took place at the same store, Flash Foods on North Peterson Avenue. On Friday, March 15, 2019, the GBI obtained arrest warrants for Jonathan Vann and Keyante Greene in the deaths of three individuals reported missing earlier this week. Vann was charged with two counts of malice murder for the deaths of Wayne Hackle, Jr. and Bobbie Lynn Moore in Atkinson County, Georgia. In Berrien County, Georgia, Vann was also charged with one count of malice murder for the death of Mercedes Hackle and for arson in regards to a burned vehicle that Moore was using. On Wednesday, March 13, 2019, the GBI arrested Jonathan Douglas Vann, 20, of Nashville, in connection to the disappearance of three persons and subsequent death of two of them. The two deceased are not yet positively identified. The third person is still missing. Between Sunday morning and Tuesday morning, three armed robberies took place in Douglas, two of which appear to be related. No arrests have been made in any of the robberies. According to a statement released Monday afternoon on the Douglas Police Department’s Facebook page, the first incident happened between 3:30 a.m. and 4:00 a.m. on Sunday, March 10, 2019, at the north Flash Foods store, 1716 North Peterson Avenue. Saturday, March 2, officers from the Douglas Police Department investigated two unrelated shootings, both of which resulted in arrests. The second shooting was the more interesting of the two. It took place around 7:30 a.m. on March 2. According to a post on the Douglas Police Department’s Facebook page, officers received a call from Coffee Regional Medical Center that an individual, Tadoshi Alexandra Moore, 22, had been brought in with a gunshot wound in the back of his leg.
