Earlier this week, the Coffee County Sheriff’s Office announced that the department was looking Shamont Maurice Lowder, 45, for failing to maintain the requirement of his sex offender status. Friday morning, officers located and arrested Lowder. He is currently being held in the Coffee County Jail. Lowder was convicted of child molestation in Ware County in 2007. He also had an active arrest warrant for violating the terms of his probation.
A Broxton man who allegedly led police on a county-wide high speed chase last Saturday escaped arrest. Temporarily. On Saturday Aug. 25, multiple law enforcement agencies were involved in a high speed pursuit of a vehicle driven by 43-year-old Therios Anderson of Broxton. According to authorities, the chase went all over Coffee County and ended in Broxton. Anderson managed to elude officers that night. On Thursday Aug. 30, Broxton police officers located Anderson, who admitted that he was the person driving the vehicle involved in the pursuit. A Coffee County native is missing in South Carolina and authorities have labeled her disappearance as “suspicious.” ABC News 4 in Charleston has both published and broadcast several stories regarding the disappearance of Tina Diana Snipes, 43, of Edisto Island, SC. Edisto Island is about four hours from Douglas and is located between Hilton Head and Charleston. Snipes was last seen at the Horizon EZ Shop, a convenience store, at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 15. Officers with the Broxton Police Department, with assistance from the Coffee County Sheriff’s Office, arrested a two Douglas men Thursday – one on a forgery charge and the other on a variety of drugs and weapons charges. According a press released posted on the Broxton Police Department’s Facebook page, a deputy had a forgery arrest warrant for Payne Pope, 20, of Douglas. Monday afternoon, officers from the police department announced that the department has obtained warrants for the arrest of Adam J. Cato. Cato is wanted for financial transaction card theft and four counts of financial transaction card fraud. A woman from Coffee County was shot and killed in Clayton County Sunday morning, allegedly by her boyfriend who stabbed a police dog during the ensuing investigation. Numerous media outlets throughout the state have published stories regarding the shooting. The shooting took place around 9:30 a.m. at Brookstone Apartments on Garden Walk Boulevard. The Coffee County Sheriff’s Office has obtained an arrest warrant for 63-year-old Alfred Peacock for failing to register as a sex offender. Peacock was convicted of aggravated assault with intent to rape in Dougherty County in 2000 and also has an active warrant for violating the terms of his probation. Peacock failed to report to the sheriff’s office in 2018 for his annual registration, per the requirements of his sex offender status, and is not residing at the location he previously provided to law enforcement. You just never know what a traffic stop will reveal. Friday, July 20, officers from the Broxton Police Department made what they thought was a routine traffic stop for speeding. They discovered that the driver, 25-year-old Devonte “TaTa” Bivens of Broxton had two felony warrants for his arrest and he was also a person of interest in a shooting that took place in Douglas a few weeks ago.
